Honda Civic Type R EP3'04 targa rally, trackday multi-use car + spares Read on

This Civic EP3 facelift has been in our family for more than 6 years and 30k miles. It was first a road car but in 2016 it was lightly side-swiped by a truck. Damage was confined to the rear quarter and door on the offside. The door was replaced with a secondhand one in the correct colour (and the original lock transferred so still same key) and the quarter panel left.

See the last photo for the remaining damage. Since then it has been used for 12-car and targa rallies, then in 2018 it was stripped out and an OMP roll cage fitted and used for track days. I have now replaced all the relevant interior trim so that it is once again eligible for road and targa rallies.

Mechanically it has been well cared for, regular oil changes (Mobil 1) and it still runs perfectly, the VTEC engages smoothly when it should. The gearbox too is fine, no crunches or weak synchro issues whatsoever. The departures from standard spec are.

OMP 6-point bolt in roll cage, powder-coated in black with full padded protection for both occupants and correctly fitted on welded plinths as per MSA regulations. Luke red 4-point harnesses (out of date) - original seat belts remain and can be used. Standard pre-facelift Type R seats fitted replacing the OMP seats as my bottom does not fit them. However OMP frames to fit the standard mountings for side mount seats are included. Single box exhaust system (cat retained).

White powder-coated Type R 17 inch wheels with good Yokohama Neova AD08RS tyres currently fitted. Uprated adjustable Spax dampers and strut inserts. Eibach -35mm lowering springs currently fitted.

Recent work has included new disks, engine mounting, oxygen sensors, clutch master cylinder and front pads (addressing an MoT advisory). No warning lights, starts first time every time and the recent MoT showed perfect emissions.

Included with the car is a van load of spares, including a complete set of panels (doors, mirrors, bonnet, hatch, wings and skirts) in the correct Cosmic grey, full set of front and rear light units and 10x 16 inch EP2 alloys for targa use, 8 with tyres. And a set of original ride height springs. The car is currently in track/tarmac trim but it is a matter of an hour or so's work to change back to the standard ride height springs and replace the wheels and it would be ready to go for targas. Mot until 2nd September 2021. 2 keys and alarm fobs, original document pack with some history.

It has been a great fun car for us, 2x class wins for me on targas and a 9:34 lap of the Nurburgring for my son. Ready to go, reluctant sale because I have an unexpected chance to pursue a dream historic project and I need the space.

But I will not let it go for a silly price, I'd genuinely rather put it into storage that that.
